Today I stumbled across a free website that is supposed to help you learn a foreign language. I signed up for it to try it out, as I thought it’d be cool just to mess around with it to see what it was like. I’ve always thought about actually trying to learn a second language, but I usually just give up a few days into it as I get confused and ultimately embarrassed by attempting to speak the language.

As I was looking around at the first lesson for German though, I came across this picture (they show pictures with a phrase underneath it to help you try and figure out what the phrase is about):

Now, on first glance, I literally thought of the English “dick” and my first idea of what this phrase said was “I want ____,” where ‘____’ is a certain male organ. Ashamed, I looked at the translation to find out that the woman in the picture was simply saying “I am fat.” Boy, was my face red. Oh, the struggles with different languages.
