Waiting, Is the Hardest Part

Well, I am back to playing the waiting game, this time sans iPhone. I tried to update my iPhone to the new software (version 2.0) this morning when I got back from getting my oil changed. Low and behold, when I docked my iPhone, iTunes came up and said, “An update is available for your phone.” Success! I download it and start the installation process. Unbeknown to me, was that this updater backs up your phone’s contents, then wipes it clean. Then the installation of the new software takes place. After about fifteen minutes the new version 2.0 software has been installed. Pretty excited now, as I wait for the re-activation to occur (all iPhone software updates are accompanied by a re-activation). This is where the wheels fall off the train. With all the iPhone frenzy (whether people are updating their first gen models or they are upgrading to the new second gen model), the iTunes activation servers have gone down. So, thankfully, I’m stuck in the middle of my software upgrade and that being the case, I am unable to use my phone. Great.

I felt a little naked as I left the apartment today. I had no need to bring what’s essentially a useless iPhone (can’t do anything on it except look at it and make emergency calls) with me to class. So if you need to contact me, for the time being (until I post an update) please reach me through email or on an instant messenger (msn or gTalk).

Now that I am phone-less, I can only assume that everyone in the world is trying to reach me with good news. Google and Apple are probably calling with job offers, that, unless I pick up right now, I will never get again. I’ve probably won a million dollars, but the only way to collect is to answer that elusive phone call. Man, Zach Braff is probably calling and wanting me to hang out with him and Hugh Laurie. Sad times indeed.

Update: I now finally have phone service (3:00 PM). So after a whopping five hours without service, I finally have my phone back. Sort of. Still waiting on the restore to finish, but it is usable at the moment, which is very good.
