Friday afternoon, Ashley and I decided to go check out the zoo here in Louisville (we both really enjoy the zoo). We were pretty excited since the last time we were there, there was an elephant giving birth and this time around we’d get to see the new baby elephant.
Along the way though, we did get a few interesting pictures, such as this picture of a duck swimming. This actually was one of my favorite images that I captured as the green floor under the water makes the image pop. We also grabbed some good pictures of a penguin, the elephants, a female lion, a wallaby, and of course, my favorite, the puma. Unfortunately, not all was great with this trip. Although Ashley got to see her elusive hippos (they weren’t on display the last few times we’ve went because of cold weather), the polar bear was moved as the zoo plans on renovating it’s “arctic animals” exhibit. The good thing about this, is when the polar bear does come back, they’ll also be bringing more animals for display to go along with the bear (including otters and seals). Here are a few of the better pictures from our trip:

On Saturday:

Ashley and I went out for an anniversary dinner at J. Alexanders (a really swanky restaurant that doesn’t skimp out on the food). I kept the location of our dinner a surprise up until we pulled into the parking lot. Here we enjoyed a nice romantic dinner with plenty of food (no joke, there was a huge mountain of food on each plate, way more food than what you’d expect from a more upscale restaurant).
After gorging ourselves on steak and potatoes, we ventured down to The Homemade Ice Cream and Pie Kitchen and picked up ourselves a couple of pieces of pie for desert. Then, we decided to go rent a movie (picked up Be Kind Rewind), pick up a bottle of wine, and spend the rest of the night at my apartment. There we enjoyed the movie, a glass of wine, and just laid around the rest of the night. Unfortunately, it all seemed to go by too fast and now we are packing up and I’m heading to Mayfield for my three to four week summer break. Woo-hoo! I know it’s been awhile since my previous post, and my posts have become increasingly erratic, but check back as I plan on posting more when I arrive at home, and also at a more regular pace. Big news my friends, big news. Till we meet again, so long.
