It’s very rare that I actually do something new that is “growing up” related. I’ve done many things that adults typically do, such as paying bills, taking out loans, owning credit cards, etc, but today was a new step for me: canceling credit cards and accounts. I’d heard many horror stories about the “retention” specialist that will help you close your account but much to my surprise and delight, I encountered no such person today. On both accounts the person helping me was extremely nice and didn’t try to talk me out of my decision (which I really needed, with it being my first time and everything). They pretty much just asked for a reason and afterwards canceled the accounts. Very straight forward and almost made me not want to close my accounts… almost.
