The Sharper Image

Earlier this week, I was enjoying a podcast called No Agenda (hosted by Adam Curry and John C. Dvorak). The show is, as the name suggests, a show that has no agenda and generally no plan of discussion. The hosts basically talk about whatever comes to mind or whatever they have noticed going on in today's world.

During this past week's show, they talked about the demise of The Sharper Image. If you are unaware of what The Sharper Image is, you were truly missing out. The Sharper Image was an overpriced gadget shop. Essentially, it was one of those stores that all men went into, but never really understood why they were attracted to the store. It promised future technology at ridiculous prices. They always just seemed to have cutting edge gadgets that were always out of your financial reach. Truthfully, I do not know one person that has ever purchased anything from The Sharper Image. It's really no surprise that it's gone out of business; it's hard to stay in business when your main business is to sell gadgets and you are not selling them.

Although I'm quite hard on The Sharper Image, I will miss them in my local mall in Louisville. I will miss walking into the store, walking aimlessly around, not buying anything, then leaving. Good times.
