Pallbearer Duties

I always find it a little intimidating when asked to participate in a funeral. Thus far in my storied life, I've only been apart of a funeral as a pallbearer. I served in this position for my brother's father, for my grandfather, an extended relative, and today I reprise the role for another extended relative.

I've never really had a problem with helping out, but as of late, I've found it a little morbid in being one of the gentlemen that carries a loved one to the grave. Many found it odd that my brother and I would carry his father or our grandfather, but we couldn't really see it any other way. It's just something humbling about it and we felt like we should be the ones carrying our loved ones if possible.

Well, I feel that I have stalled enough. Time to head to the funeral home. I would like to take the time to remind all of you to spend time with your loved ones, in light of the inevitable outcome. Sorry to be such a downer.
