Uhh… It's Gone Forever

So today, I was going through some old school files and I was moving them from one of my external hard drives to another that I have hooked up on my network. After the copying was finished, I immediately took the files from the first external hard drive to the Recycle Bin, then promptly emptied it. Upon examining the files after the move, I noticed that many files were missing. As in gone. As in, not there and never will be again. It turns out, that all of my past college files have now gone the way of the Dodo. Awesome.

I know that I didn't really need these files and I'm probably never going to use them again, but it still feels very depressing to lose them. I mean, there were many hours invested in that work and who knows, someday within the next year where I may be like, "Man, I could really use one of those files I lost." But, this leads me to leave you with some advice: Don't empty your Recycle Bin as soon as you put something in there. I'm quite guilty of this as I always want to keep everything so cleaned up and organized on my computer, but at times it can come back to bite you. Usually, I have backups to save me. But, since this was an external hard drive for extra storage, I did not have it backed up (to my knowledge anyway). I really hope I come across a disc with all of these files, but I'm not holding up too much hope for this.

In short, don't repeat my mistakes!
